Cashing in… or lack thereof
Today was payday (and yes, pay periods run from Wednesday to Tuesday). Looking back at my pay stub, I realized “shit, I don’t make much.” This really isn’t a revelation, but more of a motivation to keep me going in school. As much fun as it is to be making $7.82 an hour, I’d like to be kicking ass at a higher pay level.
An interesting thing, this check, consisting of only like 29 or so hours, has over doubled my yearly total in hours so far. Pretty damn pathetic that in over a month I have amounted only 56 hours of paid work. Hmmm.
At least my birthday is Sunday, so maybe I can look forward to a few cards with some cash in them, or maybe my AdSense money will be deposited soon… Either way I need to start saving back up. I’m barely at the $1,000 mark in checking, and I’d love to have a lot more than that before the Myrtle trip in May.
I am still awaiting a $400+ check from a webdesign client. Whether or not I’ll see that soon is left up to them and their “demands” for further development on the apps I designed for them. They see it as a “we’re sorry to bother you, but is it possible to add/change this…?” I see it more as a “here is an excuse for you to put more hours into the project,” thus more income. I’m not going to complain.
Overall, it’s been looking pretty decent lately. Birthday, client check, AdSense money, along with tax return and paychecks at work… I could end up with close to $1,000 extra dollars in my pocket by the middle of March, if not earlier.
